Held at Crone’s Hollow, this ritual is open to the public. Your contribution of $10 or more will be accepted by the Crone’s Hollow staff. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Please be advised that this will be a Working Rite, held out of doors around a fire pit. Dress appropriately for the weather, and for ease of movement. As the Rom say, “With one behind, you cannot sit on two horses,” therefore, participation will be required.

Please bring a substantial gift of food to share for feasting after the ritual.

Aspen Grove Yule – December 17, 2011

Welcome the newborn Sun with NOX Oasis O.T.O in Ogden ! The Aspen Grove Yule Rite will be held at the wonderful Dancing Lotus, 893 24th St. Suite 100 in Ogden, UT.

Ritual begins at 7 PM ; please be prompt.

This ritual is open to the public. NOX welcomes donations from those who attend. Be advised that there will be a guided meditation mid-rite – please do not bring children if you don’t think they can sit quietly.

Everyone is invited to contribute to the potluck following the ritual. We have a refrigerator and microwave available.

Aspen Grove’s Legendary Lughnasadh Campout. In the past we’ve encountered the
Fae, torrential rain and a cow invasion. Come prepared!

Many events are being planned for this campout, including a circle to create our

effigy and pyre for the ritual, the infamous Friday night Cuchulainn Barding Circle,

the Saturday Aspen Grove Lughnassadh ritual, the Saturday Tailtu Faire which

includes Pudgy pie makin’, Passin’ o’ the Mead, Commando Croquet, Welly Wanging,

Tug ‘o War, a Scavenger Hunt and Fun Noodle Jousting, PLUS a handfasting

following the ritual! There will be  feasting after the ritual and handfasting…

please bring a substantial dish to share!

Porta-potties and showers will be available. Please bring a monetary donation
of at least $10 towards these services.

Gathering will be at 1 PM with an optional head wreath crafting. Ritual will start around 2 PM and will last about an hour. There will be community feasting afterward, please bring a potluck dish to share, and your own plates and silver ware.

Ritual garb is encouraged but not necessary.

The Full Moon of Ash in the Celtic Tree Calendar takes place on Saturday, March 19th, at 12:10 PM. The Pagan Festival of Oestare, the Spring Equinox, takes place on Sunday, March 20th, at 5:21 PM MST. Aspen Grove Sabbats invites you to celebrate both these auspicious events in a “solilune”, a combined solar Sabbat and lunar Full Moon rite. The event will take place at Crone’s Hollow, in Roy’s Room, beginning promptly at 3:00 PM, on Saturday afternoon, March 19th.  This rite will be done in the style of Irish Traditional Witchcraft and will honor both the Three Realms spanned by the World Tree and the renewal and rebirth of the Spring Equinox. Please watch this space for details of the ritual closer to the time. What has already been determined is:

This rite is child-friendly. Children who attend must be able to remain in circle space for at least an hour without becoming restless.

There is a $10.00 per person requested donation to cover space rental and ritual supplies. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Payment should be made directly to Crone’s Hollow either before ritual begins or during orientation, when the Money Maid will make an appearance.

Donations of food will be collected for the Utah AIDS Foundation.

Please bring a substantial dish for feasting after ritual, that will serve 8-10 people.

We will be making offerings to Land, Sea, and Sky. Please bring either a small stone, a feather, or a small bottle of water from Nature to add to the cauldron.

Some assistance in creating sacred space and in performing the Work of the rite will be asked of participants. Please come prepared to be asked to participate.

This ritual will mark the return of the light and is intended to help lay a foundation for new beginnings for each of us personally, and for all of us as a community. Help us create this threshold to begin the new sabbat cycle, a new era for Salt Lake and a new space to celebrate in.

Griffin ap Ced and Morgan ap Ced of Earth Haven coven will center the ritual.

This ritual will be Aspen Grove’s Imbolc offering.

This year’s celebration is being held in conjunction with the fifth year of the Holly King’s Treasures, our community Sub-For-Santa event, which benefits the Utah AIDS Foundation in cooperation with their “Seasons Givings” project. In recognition of the difficulties many families are unexpectedly facing during this time of economic hardship, our Yule celebration this year will focus on blessing those in need with donations of non-perishable food items for the Xmas baskets the Utah AIDS Foundation provides to its clients. There will be a “blessing circle” where we will consecrate the food, there will be a rite of honor and offering to the Holly King in several of his guises, there will be a divination rite, and a community feast.

We are asking that people be willing to bring either a canned or a boxed non-perishable food donation to contribute, as well as anything you may like to use as an offering to the Holly King in the ritual circle, and your own dishes and eating utensils. In observance and remembrance of the poor, some of whom may have little or nothing to eat during this season, our luncheon feast will consist of a community pot of corn chowder, whose symbolic meaning will be explained to you at orientation, and bread and a pot of hot cider. There will be a vegan version of the chowder, and there will be chicken to add if you like.

Important Note: Please RSVP to one of the two e-mail addresses below, to receive a food assignment for this ritual. We are doing a “minimalist luncheon feast” to underline the situation of the people who will be receiving our collected food. You will be asked to bring either a recipe of the corn chowder (recipe will be provided), bread, ingredients for hot apple cider, or servingware. Please remember to RSVP and receive an assignment by December 15 to avoid omissions or duplications.

Directions: Westminster College is located at the intersection of 1300 East and 1700 South in Salt Lake City, Utah. Parking is on the northwest end of the campus and is accessed from 1700 South. From 1700 S, turn south on 1200 E (entering Westminster campus). Continue S on 1200 E for 1 block – you will enter a covered parking garage under the soccer field. Park here, and walk to the NE exit of the parking structure. Take the stairs up one level to the main entrance. Go through 2 sets of glass doors, turn right before you get to the turnstile, and you woll see the Special Events Room in front of you.

Accessible entrance: either follow the directions above, and call Aisling or Christian who will let you in the doors at the bottom of the staircase by the parking garage (they are exit-only doors). There is an elevator inside.

Alternate accessible access: Park in the 2-story parking structure on the corner of 1700 S and 1200 E. Go to the south exit of the structure, and from there go to the east side of the building directly to the south. There is a ramp and a small door on the east side of this building, that goes directly into the Special Events Room.
